The seminar is based on a systematic literature review and summarizes the main information of the internationally most influential books on the topic of scientific writing in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It is intended to provide an overview of the state of the art in scientific writing. Controversial aspects are presented as such. The seminar covers questions such as:

- How to formulate texts "scientifically"?

- How to perform a systematic literature review?

- How are student theses, conference and journal articles structured? Which information is (not) expected in each section?

- How to optimize a scientific text to make it as short, precise and comprehensible as possible?

- How to generate effective Tables and Figures?

- Which techniques exist to write faster and more effectively?

- What is the process behind the publication of conference articles and journal papers?

To pass the course, the students perform the following tasks:

1x condense a scientific (review-)article to 2 pages

2x conduct peer-review for articles by other students

1x present their article
